Bachelor of Engineering Technology – Electrical: Prepare yourself for an exciting career in electrical design and development

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Electrical) is a three year degree comprising of core and elective courses, with a focus on the design and implementation of engineering technology. The BEngTech (Electrical) is fully accredited by Engineering New Zealand (EngNZ) and is recognised internationally under the Sydney Accord.

In the first year of study students will develop core engineering skills in computing, mathematics, management and engineering sciences, plus some discipline specific topics. This forms the foundation upon which students will build their degree. Critical thinking, problem solving and innovation will be a key part of the student’s success.

In the second and third years students will continue to deepen their understanding in electrical engineering and engage in projects to apply their knowledge. A capstone project is run with close ties to industry, with many projects being sponsored by key industry parties. This offers students the chance to test their skills against industry standards in a real world scenario while allowing them to build their professional portfolio and develop important industry contacts.

This course is offered to students at the Christchurch-Madras Street campus of the Ara Institute of Canterbury in New Zealand.

Entry Requirements: IELTS 6.0 (academic) with no less than 5.5 in reading and listening.
