Bachelor of Midwifery: Provide professional care to women during pregnancy and after
The Bachelor of Midwifery course is for candidates who want to become a Midwife and care for women during pregnancy, labour, birth and for up to six weeks following the birth. This is a full time programme which has a completion time limit of four years.
As a student, your first year will be theory based, the second year is split between practicals and theory and the third year is primarily practical. You will be required to attend mandatory classes due to the the intensive, theory oriented content of this programme. The programme also gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge with hospital clinical placements alongside a midwife during community practice. This includes simulations and placement in maternity care settings.
Students who have completed this course will be required to attend the National Midwifery Examination to become a registered midwife.
This course is offered at the Hamilton City campus of the Waikato Institute of Technology in New Zealand.
Entry requirements: IELTS 7.0 (academic) with no score less than 6.5 in writing and reading and no score less than 7.0 in speaking and listening.
