Bachelor of Creativity – Visual Arts (WELTEC & Whitireia)
Programme Overview
The Visual Arts major of the Bachelor of Creativity is a three year programme that develops students’ knowledge of Fine Arts. The first two years of the Bachelor of Creativity (Visual Arts) provide a strong base in the craft of a studio practice in the Fine Arts, with students exploring how to make art works, while learning about the culture of the craft-object in society and its many contexts. This study develops studio skills, establishes an understanding of design principles and the world of contemporary arts. In the third year, students build on the knowledge they have acquired to create a major body of work for exhibition.
Programme Outline
This Visual Arts major of the Bachelor of Creativity combines core courses with specialist Visual Arts courses. Subjects in the Visual Arts specialisation cover the following topics:
- jewellery
- sculpture
- ceramics
- photography
- print-making
- painting
- sustainable textiles
ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
IELTS Academic score of 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5).
